Dr Catherine Hughes is CareerMe’s international advisor. She is the founder of the Grow Careers website for Australian school communities and author of books on careers work in schools. She has 30 years experience in designing and delivering school career guidance services.

Catherine’s educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Education gained from the University of Tasmania, a Graduate Diploma in Careers Education, Master of Social Science (Careers Education) and Doctor of Philosophy gained at RMIT University. Catherine’s PhD research involved a cross-cultural study of adolescent career maturity across Australian and Thai cultural contexts, including the influence of self-concept, parenting style and individualism-collectivism on career maturity. Her research and careers guidance work in schools have been published in academic journals and career practitioner publications and presented at national and international conferences.

In addition delivering career guidance services, Catherine works as a consultant in the career development field. Recent consulting projects have included content writing and structural design of career information websites, writing online career education course content, curriculum writing for Australian Curriculum: Work Studies, writing learning materials for a statewide career and life planning course, delivering professional development workshops to teachers and career guidance practitioners, and delivering workshops on using Australian labour market information in career service delivery.
