Choice is a big part of 21st-century living. We are presented with choices every day. Some of these decisions are straightforward. Others, like deciding an education pathway are complex and potentially costly. It also requires time and energy given so many choices and so much information. Whether making career and education choices at age 16, 18 or as a graduate; high-quality information, advice and guidance are essential for good decision making.

Choosing the right career is one of the most crucial decisions of a student’s life.

“CareerMe” helps students via a three-step hybrid career guidance solution involving man and technology. Our free online Career Test, available via our web portal, will help students discover careers that match their skills, abilities and interests. Following that,  a personalized discussion with a CareerMe Advisor will help students select the best careers out of all suggested careers. We will then prepare a Career Action Plan that recommends education and training options to follow for your chosen career.

It is never too early to start planning your career.

Career Decision Making

Traditionally, most students choose careers based on their exam marks, parent’s advice or peer pressure. After spending years of valuable time and money in post-school education, most start a job only to realize it is a bad fit and just don’t like it. So, they have to begin all over again. A costly mistake.

CareerMe offers internationally accepted methods to not make that mistake. First select a career that matches your personality, skills and interests. Then plan education options to reach that destination, the way for a most successful and rewarding career.

Our Career Guidance Process

The first step is to Login to our CareerMe portal and take our free career test based on Dr. John Holland’s “Making Vocational Choices”. This will give you a personalized career report that suggests potential careers for you.

The report will identify you based on six occupational personality types;  Realistic (R), Investigative (I), Artistic (A), Social (S), Enterprising (E) and Conventional (C); (also called RIASEC) and list occupations that best match your personality and interests.

Once you have completed the Career Test you will get a better idea of who you are and the right career choices for you. The next step is to understand these career options. Request an appointment with a CareerMe advisor who can help you work through your available options and help you build a career action plan.

The discussion will detail what it means to have a career in a particular field. What duties does a particular career involve , what are the educational requirements, which colleges offer these courses, what are the job options once you get the degree?

After your career discussion, you are ready to make an informed decision about your future career. Based on your career discussion we will create a career action plan for your selected career. An action plan is a road map that will define your next steps. It shows how to go from choosing an occupation to becoming employed in your chosen career.

The action plan depends on your shortlisted career choice(s). It will detail qualities required, education required, employment outlook and potential employers for your career choices. The process will be an eye-opener into the type of career you want or don’t want.
